McKirdy's ORIGINAL will appeal to anyone interested in natural products. Oil of Citronella is extracted from a grass grown in Sri Lanka. Traditionally this extraction uses steam and not organic solvents.

McKirdy's SPECIAL uses DEET as the active ingredient. We use DEET as it is recognized as being very effective at repelling insects. As with many man-made chemicals there are some concerns about its safety, particularily for children, therefore we use a low concentration of 15%.
